When you're shopping for a home with a family there are different things that you are looking for in the design and location. While singles or young couples might be interested in downtown Toronto townhomes or Alexandria condos close to all the best amenities and entertainment options, those with a family are more in the market for quiet streets and within close proximity to good schools and community centers. There are many options to choose from in the Alexandria region.
For those that are raising a family but still want all of the conveniences of a city life there is Old Town. As indicated by the name, this is the oldest section of the city and is full of historic landmarks as well as lots of amenities. The local high school is TC Williams, which offers lots of scholarship programs, AP classes and even provides a laptop for each student. If you're coming from a Mississauga home for sale you might be paying a little more for a home, but there are lots of different designs to choose from.
Del Ray is just northwest of Old Town and is frequently seen as one of the city's most desired neighborhoods. It is close to transit stops for those who will be commuting to Washington DC for work and provides quiet streets and a low crime rate. This community has its own main street or Mount Vernon Avenue, where many events and festivals take place throughout the year. If you're used to a place like Toronto Annex real estate where there is a combination of young artists and older professionals than you will be very happy in this neighborhood.
The West End of the city has some great neighborhoods for families, including Seminary Hill and the Landmark area. Seminary Hill is home to the upper school of one of the city's largest private schools, St Stephen's and St. Agnes while Landmark is the home of the Alexandria Library's central branch. If you've just sold your home with an Ajax real estate agent and you're used to single-family homes in the 1950s style than you will find lots of what you're looking for here.
North Ridge is a mixture of new homes and designs from the 1930s to the 1960s. It is also the site of St Stephen's and St Agnes Lower School and many of the city's churches. If you're from somewhere like Middlesex Ontario real estate and don't mind commuting than you might even like to look at some of the communities just outside of the city as well, including Hollin Hills, Groveton, and Huntington.
